When you look around you see a lot of positive information about it. What's to complain about since it's good for you... Right? Well, opinions vary.
Nutella is NOT an end all, do all preparedness nutrition fix. There are other choices that are as good or better depending on the situation...
What do you ask? (Go ahead, ask yourself)... Would you care to believe that in a label comparison that peanut butter puts a hurting on Nutella in all but one category? Now, now... Settle down. I would never make such a claim without backing it up.

Just so ya know, I verified the information presented in that link myself, but please go ahead and do it too.

Why am I doing this? I see a lot of "press" in many survival stories about Nutella and feel that the field is getting narrowed for other good preparedness foods because of that.
The reason I am doing this right now is the situation that Einar is in, in the story. The sugar in Nutella is great. Fifteen times more than peanut butter (and believe me, peanut butter is loaded!) but if your body isn't properly retaining enough liquid to process what you take in, then it does no good. Not saying peanut butter is a better choice because it's not. Saying that the KEY is FLUIDS.
Worse yet, you can actually end up poisoning yourself. For instance we all need potassium, but too much will cause cardio-distress. Now, if the body isn't retaining fluids properly then "excess" is relative. Sugar is similar. Too much will likely just get washed out and if you are so far gone that you can't make up the deficit orally an IV will be required.
Too much sugar and your body needs to produce insulin to take care of that... in a body that is malnourished, the digestive tract shutting down and fluids not being retained properly...
Rowdy!
