I love Snorri, have one way back in geneology, but for a girl? I would go Kara (a valkyrie but cannot remember what saga it is from). It means wild and stormy one

on second thought, perhaps Andy wouldn't be good... as much as he's been thinking lately about how things might go wrong for the baby, and the mortality rate for pre-industrial societies, such as the situation they are in now, was rather high.

I like Andy for a boy...to honor the one Einar feels such guilt about not being able to save. Maybe naming a boy Andy would help Einar work on "atoning" for his inability to save the original, and MAYBE FINALLY get over his feelings of guilt.
For a girl, I like Freya. A Norse goddess...what could be more fitting? (Although I DID give serious consideration to Liberty.....

Liz, too, thought Andy might be a good name for the little one, and probably for a lot of the same reasons you mentioned, but Einar just couldn't bring himself to seriously think about that, so it wasn't really an option for them. Thank you all for your input on ideas for names! It was quite interesting.  |
