This YT channel ("Ice Age Farmer")is new to me, but it does seem well grounded. I would urge readers to try this video, and perhaps some of his other videos, if you find the info to be good/solid.

I would say our food supply system is precariously balanced. The modern day farmer faces many challenges with the changing weather being perhaps the most significant. Flooding, unseasonably warm weather, violent hail and wind storms....these are not new things, but the fact is there are less farmers today feeding more people than ever before. When large swaths of cropland get destroyed or ruined for a season, it shows up in the market place as higher prices and fewer selections. It would be a good idea for everyone to grow something. The time to learn is now, not when you have to.
