Here is what the UPS man just dropped off about 5 minutes ago. It is amazing what can be dropped off at 7:38 at night. Excellent! Always great when the UPS man brings something edible. I'll be interested to hear how you like both varieties.

FOTH have you ever used Jacob's Cattle Bean? Old Heirloom similar looking to Anasazi. And do you know the growing requirements for Anasazi Beans. I was thinking of trying some this summer if they would grow well in the midwest.

you can also get Chaco Canyon beans from Baker's Creek (rareseeds.com) to grow yourself. I believe those were found at the archaeological site in Chaco Canyon, and revived. I grew some one year... they don't work so well as fresh, and didn't get them to maturity to try that way, but probably will next season.

I was thinking of trying some this summer if they would grow well in the midwest. I've eaten Jacob's cattle beans, but have never grown them. The Anasazis do well down in the Southwest corner of Colorado at an elevation of 6,800' above sea level and in fairly arid conditions, and I understand that they'll grow nearly anywhere in the country where you have a growing season of at least 65-70 days... They're a bush bean, and don't need too much space.
